As an undergraduate student interested in pursuing film or theatre at ASU School of Film, Dance and Theatre in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, you may earn a BA in Theatre or a BA in Film. The BA in Theatre gives you the resources you need to hone your skills in acting, directing, design, production and more. Optional concentrations are available in acting or design and production. The BA in Film is offered in two concentrations: a non-studio based concentration in filmmaking practices and a highly selective studio based concentration in film and media production.
Students in the Filmmaking Practices concentration receive grounding in production practice, entertainment ethics, independent film production and producing. Production experience is garnered through FMP 300 (Production 1) and through work on produced film projects. The highly selective BA in Film with a concentration in film and media production allows you to sharpen your production skills while working with state-of-the-art equipment.
The program provides opportunities for you to evolve as contemporary dance practitioners. While dedicated to the development of artists, scholars and educators, the Herberger Institute's dance programs also encourages and fosters exploration in new, diverse and creative directions key to the development of dance in the future.
