As an undergraduate student in the Herberger Institute School of Theatre and Film, you may obtain a BA in Theatre or a BA in Film. The BA in Theatre gives you the resources you need to hone your skills in acting, directing, design, production and more. Optional concentrations are available in acting or design and production. The BA in Film is offered in two concentrations: a non-studio based concentration in filmmaking practices and a highly selective studio based concentration in film and media production.
Students in the Filmmaking Practices concentration receive grounding in production practice, entertainment ethics, independent film production and producing. Production experience is garnered through FMP 300 (Production 1) and through work on produced film projects. The highly selective BA in Film with a concentration in film and media production allows you to sharpen your production skills while working with state-of-the-art equipment.
Although ASU is large, the School of Theatre and Film creates a small community, so you have one-on-one mentoring with faculty, access to world-renowned guest artists and abundant opportunities to collaborate with peers. Courses are taught by nationally recognized faculty who are experts in their specific fields. Whether you are interested in theatre or film, you will have plenty of performance and production opportunities in an intellectually stimulating environment.
