Undergraduate Degree Programs

BA in Film: Film and Media Production at ASU

Students in the Film and Media Production Program enjoy a hands-on professional experience within a liberal arts education. The program employs the latest digital technologies to train undergraduates for careers in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing and producing. Through a unique emphasis on ethical decision making in both content creation and business practices, students are trained to thoughtfully consider not only how to look through a lens, but why they should. Issues such as racial and ethnic identities, sex, and violence are examined as tools for filmmakers to use with an understanding of audience effects and the greater responsibility of artists in society. Faculty is drawn from working professionals in film and television, providing a wealth of opportunities for young filmmakers.

Key features of the ASU Herberger School of Theatre and Film experience include:

  • Sun Devil Productions, LLC - Students gain hands on film production experience through this affiliated production company located in SkySong;.
  • Television and Film Internship Program - Recent opportunities for film students include hands on production experience on the television series Prison Break and Lincoln Heights, as well as on Universal Studios films in Arizona.
